Brief Answer:
A fungal infection is less likely, especially because the lesions do not respond to antifungal treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service,

I carefully read your query and also checked the uploaded images.

Because the lesions are not responding to antifungal treatment, other conditions such as lichen planus may be considered. Lichen planus is a condition that irritates the skin and may cause raised flat bumps and very itchy lesions.

It is recommended to go back to your doctor and let him/her know that you are not better with the treatment you received. This will help the doctor consider other diagnoses, lichen planus included.

Your doctor may need to run some tests as well and in a few cases, a skin biopsy may be ordered to confirm the diagnosis.

I hope this answers your query.
I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back,

Lichen planus is not a well-understood condition when it comes to causes. It is not a hereditary condition, not infectious either.
There are many suggestions. It is more common in patients with Hepatitis C and those that take certain medications, flu vaccine and certain chemicals and metals are thought to be the cause as well. Many times no specific cause is identified.

Treatment is easy most of the time, with a local steroid cream, anti-allergy medications, and phototherapy. Rarely more advanced treatments are needed. But in any case, your doctor will need to confirm the diagnosis.

I hope this answers your query.
