Question: I have a constant pain/discomfort in my legs, especially around the calf muscles. This discomfort is felt much more when I am sitting idle or lying down. If I put pressure on the muscles, like in case of a massage, I get some relief. Is there anything else I can do to relieve the pain and discomfort?

Well, there are several possible causes responsible for these discomforts starting from electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, blood sugar imbalance to deep vein incompetence, muscular sprain to name a few...

First of all, start drinking a lot of water throughout the day (2.5-3 ltr/day), have plenty of fresh fruit juices, coconut water, and electrolyte-rich fluids...Avoid standing/sitting for a long duration, take frequent breaks in between and stretch the legs, keep them elevated specially when sitting at a same place...Strictly avoid smoking if at all do...

Unsupervised massages could be harmful, so do not manipulate the area... Simply get yourself checked up by either an Orthopedician or a general Surgeon for a thorough examination of the affected area along with some necessary investigations (blood investigations as well as imaging studies), further specific management can be based on the findings...
