Question: I have a colonoscopy in February. I am nervous about the anesthisia. I believe myDoctor uses Propofal. Is Propofal safe? I also do get PVC%E2%80%99s, but not all the time. I usually feel them when I get anxious. I forgot to mention the PVC%E2%80%99s when I met with the Doctor, mainly because I forget about them when I don%E2%80%99t get them. Sometimes I willgo months without having any. Is Propofal still safe to use evenif I experience PVC%E2%80%99s?

Brief Answer:
Propofol is safe to be used if having PVC.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

Propofol is the main anesthesia used during colonoscopy . It is safe to be used during colonoscopy . There are no contraindications to be used if you are having PVC.
The fact that you have PVC very rarely is a good thing.
I believe you will do the procedure safely without having any complications.

Hope I have answered the question.

Brief Answer:
The anesthesiologist will titrate the dosage.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
They use a smaller dosage compared to the surgical procedures because because the colonoscopy last shorter than them for about 17 minutes.
The dosage of propofol will be titrated by anesthesiologist according to your needs till you don't show reflexes, pain .I think that during this procedure you will be monitored starting before sedation and continuing until recovered to check for any episodes of hypotension, hypoxemia, cardiac arrhythmia, and treated if necessary.

It is safe.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.

I think it is really safe and you should not get worried about it.
You will be under medical supervision so you will be safe.
In order to be a bit less nervous, you can use a mild anti-anxiety medication the night before the procedure.
