Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that in such case, if a heart valve is compromised (heart valve endocarditis has occurred), there are several signs that could help raise suspicions on this disorder:

- fatigue
- high fever
- shortness of breath
- palpitations
- night sweats
- chest pain when breathing
- cutaneous rash and joint pain.

A heart murmur can be heard in auscultation by the doctor.

In such case, a cardiac ultrasound should be performed, in order to examine the heart valve. If necessary a transesophageal cardiac ultrasound may be needed, in order to examine better the heart valves.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
