Question: I had pinkish and dark urine with minor minor discomfort 3 days ago. I went to urgent care and they did a urine culture and prescribed 500mg Cipro 2x a day. Today the culture came back negative for a UTI (saying fewer than 10000 CFU/ml)—should I be concerned or can I still actually have a UTI? Are urine cultures prone to false negatives? Can I still have an infection with less than 10000 bacteria? My urine has seemed more normal since the day I started Cipro (Monday 1/11) but do antibiotics typically work that fast?

It is not very likely that urine cultures come false negative, but more false positive, because it is more possible that the urine gets contaminated from the vulva secretions. But it is not very likely that the urine has bacteria and comes clean.
Anyway with the urine tract we go very much on treatment getting guided by the symptoms.
Seeing that you feel better means that the antibiotic is working. It usually starts working 24 hours after the first dose. Enough time in your case to say continue with the cure as prescribed.
