Question: I had issue with dizziness and vertigo since more than 20 days ago .. It started after I washed my ears in a medical center by flashing water into my ears . From that time, I feel always dizzy and nauseated ( with no hearing problem ). Local ENT specialist in my country check my ears and make some nurological test for me and MRI and he said everything is normal. Tell me to do some excercises like epley and it makes me worse. Now it's about 24 days and I feel very unwell with my dizziness and nausea and the most important notice is: I am better when I fixed my head and no movement and much worse when:
1- See moving things like Tv or cell phone or people walking or even cars moving

2- Ride a car ( The worst Dizziness and nausea ever )

3- Lay down on my left side or move my head to to left (Seems like the problem on the left side )..

I tried several vertigo medication like meclizine, cinnarazine and betahistine which I never feel only mild improvement especially with meclizine

Please I hope there is explanation for my symptoms and I appreciate your advice

Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

I have gone through the query thoroughly and understood your problem. I will try my best to help you with this.

1. The symptoms described by you seems to be related to a condition called Persistent Postural Perceptual Vertigo. Even though it mimics the Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), the dizziness doesn’t get fatigued with repeated movements of the head.

2. This is a condition, wherein, there is spatial disorientation due to abnormal relay of the signals to and from the brain.

3. Usually, this happens due to a sudden injury to the inner ear or other neurological structures of the brain or spinal cord combined with the anxiety.

4. This condition demands a thorough examination by an apt neurologist or a neuro-otologist.

5. Once your diagnosis is confirmed you would require vestibular rehabilitation exercises to readapt the system to the normal function by reducing the anxiety and self-monitoring. Therefore, habituating the individual to the provoking factors, and promoting automatic movement control until the complete recovery is achieved.

6. Controlled medications such as SNRI, serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors; SSRI, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors can help in alleviating your issues. These medicines are prescribed by the neurologist on conforming the diagnosis.

Hope this answers your query; I will be available for the follow up queries.
