Question: I get a tingling sensation in both of my hands usually the wrist and palms every night while sleeping. I've done a vitamin B12 test and the level is 195 pg/mL. Could you advise how to increase my B12 level and if I should go for any other tests scans for the same?

Brief Answer:
you need to consume diet rich in vitamin B12, and probably get a NCS done

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting your query. I have read it, and understand your health concern.

To increase your Vitamin B12 level, you need to consume diet rich in it. Examples of food rich in vitamin B12 are eggs, fish and shell fish such as trout, salmon, and tuna fish, fortified breakfast cereal, low-fat milk, yogurt, and cheese.

I should keep you informed that the vitamin B12 levels, does not return to normal immediately after changing your diet. You may not see any improvement in your symptoms for the first few months.

So, change your diet accordingly, and continue to follow the diet strictly.

With regards to other tests that may be required; you may get a Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) test done on both the wrist and palms to rule out any underlying nerve dysfunction.

Hope this answers your query. Please let me know if you have more health concerns.

Regards,
Dr Shanthi E
