I Fell And Have Two Red Areas On My Buttocks.

default
Posted on Thu, 22 Aug 2019
Question: I fell and have two red areas on my buttocks. This is the same side of my body that I had a fractured hip and a broken femur 34 years ago from head on collision. There is a rod going from my hip to my knee that is bolted and wired in. I did have a pulmonary embolism from my injuries. I have since had blood clots from other falls. Neuropathy is present also.

Brief Answer:
Most probably hematomas

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
If there is no pain or disability after the recent fall then there may not be anything specific.
If red areas can be hematomas from fall.
But it is always better to get a fresh X-ray done to rule out any hairline cracks or impacted fractures or so.
Icing helps in initial period only.
You may take an anti-inflammatory with painkiller if the swelling is too much or if there is any pain.

I hope this answer helps you.
Please feel free to give feedback and ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
