Question: I currently have what looks like a vein on the back of my hand that seems like it is swollen. it could be something underneath pushing it closer to the surface. Im not sure but i noticed it after I was in boxing with a heavy bag and I felt a small sharp pain in that very same area. its superior to all the small bones of the wrist. This is the same hand that had a boxers fracture about five years ago.

Brief Answer:
Normal situation due to strength exercise

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think this is a prominent vein, bulking vein due to excess of strength exercises of boxing. This type of intense boxing causes the blood flow to increase and the muscles to harden, leading to the prominent veins.
I don't think this is related to a disease or to past fracture history.
If you experience fever, pain or hardening of it this can be a sign of phlebitis inflammation of veins.
I think you don't have to worry about it.

Hope I have answered the question.

ok thank you.
My other concern is that it is bulkier in certain segments of the same vein, than in other segments. Its the uneven enlargement of the vein that is alarming to me. today it is smooth in diameter almost across the entire length of the vein, similar to those that run the length of the arm.
Could it possibly an aneurysm, or a possible blood clot?
Im going to follow up soon with another doctor in my area soon.

Brief Answer:
It doesn't seem to be a blood clot or aneurysm

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,

I saw the photo and in my opinion, it seems to be due to the event from extreme exercising and sport. It doesn't have any signs of thrombosis, blood clot or aneurysm.

However, it will be good to visit a vascular surgeon to clarify the concern better.

Regards.
