Question: I’ve been taking Allopurinol since XXXXXXX 4th and my legs have been swollen, red, blistered, runny nose, severe hair loss, blurred vision and many other side effects I’ve just become aware of. My dr is not sympathetic and sees me once every 3 months. I can’t walk and can’t continue to love like this. Any suggestions. I was not aware of these side effects. It started wth a severe gout attack that had never had before.

Brief Answer:
You need pain killer, multivitamin and other medicines for relief.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
For the treatment of gout in addition to allopurinol you need to have anti inflammatory medicines like Ibuprofen for pain relief. The swelling and blisters on the legs and hair loss can subside with proper medicines and supplements which you get prescribed from your primary physician. Till then you can apply Topical Neosporin H ointment on the blisters and start with a multivitamin supplement to help you feel better. Regular steam inhalation will help in runny nose.
