I Believe I Either Injured My Spine After Exercising 6

Question: I believe i either injured my spine after exercising 6 months ago, or have a neurological condition. 6 months ago i was exercising - walking and carrying weights.. i ended up in the ER with heart palpations. Over the past 6 months I have very decreased bowel motility, which has been getting worse the past 6 months, but seem to have rapid gastric emptying. Over the past 6 months i have developed muscle twitching in the legs feet toes bottom of feet, calves, when my legs are at rest, and muscle twitching throughout my body when i lay down. (Spasms in legs when sitting, spasms in legs arms everywhere when laying down.) My legs calves twitch immediately... when i sit down. I get sleep starts (jerks) when trying to fall asleep. i have been to my PCP we have done ct abd pelvis, ct chest, colonoscopy, endoscope, small bowel follow through. This was when it was primarily an abdominal issue... not it is an abdominal issue and a muscle spasm issue. My gastroenterologist says this could be an autonomic issue? But i dont really know what he means by that. He suggested trying nortriptaline to address the bowel motility, but i feel it isnt just a bowel issue. This all seems to have happened as an acute onset after exercising. i do not have any, vision problems, no sexual dysfunction, no balance issues, no confusion. Its weird....

Brief Answer:
A neurological condition to consider also.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.

I have read your query and here is my advice.

I saw the contrast evaluation of your gastrointestinal tract that you uploaded too.

Since there are neuromuscular symptoms besides gastrointestinal symptoms, I think that a neurological condition should be considered and evaluated further.

Demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis, transverse myelitis, etc. are conditions to take in consideration.

For this is necessary to see your Neurologist and to undergo tests such as imaging ( MRI ) of your brain and spinal cord, in order to understand correctly your condition.

Discuss with your Neurologist for these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

What is it called if you lay down and you feel a single "tremor" in your head trunk. Not a rythemic thing but single as your falling asleep. Like....drift off....one tremor....drift off again...one tremor...drift off again...one tremor. Is this a real tremor...i thought tremors were rythemic.

Brief Answer:
Dystonias to consider also.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

There are types of tremors that don't follow a rhythmic pattern.

Dystonias also may be possible following your description.

An evaluation by your Neurologist should give more information about the condition.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
