Question: I am planning to get my breast implants out.
And I have been told two ways to get them out but I would like to know which way is correct and safer.
1. With local anesthesia, via areola incision ( I got my breast augmentation through them)
Endoscopic explant surgery, partial capsulectomy
2. With general anesthesia, via areola incision
Endoscopic explant surgery, partial capsulectomy and burn rest of the capsule with surgical electric knife to create scars so that breast tissues will stick to close the space(pocket) that were made for implant to fit into.

Here are my questions;
1. Since I had a total thyroidectomy on March, is it better to do it with local anesthesia?
Are there big benefits?
2. Do I have to have total capsulectomy ? Is it ok to have partial capsule left in my breast?
Will capsule cause any harm ways?
3.Is it safe to create scars on the breast tissue to close the pocket?
4. Since I had a dual plane breast implant placement, is it important to stitch the cut muscle up?
Both of doctors said that it’s unnecessary.

Thank you so much for kindness.

Brief Answer:
general anesthesia can be taken, partial capsulectomy is best.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
* As per my surgical experience, I would suggest questions as per the query below

1. With thyroidectomy in march, if you are fit from anesthesia point of view, the
procedure can be performed under general anesthesia.
There are some benefits of local anesthesia in terms of hospital stay and avoidance of
administration of intravenous drugs of general anesthesia.
In my opinion, type of anesthesia should be best discussed with your operating
surgeon in terms of possible pain in relation to procedure.

2. Endoscopic explant surgery with partial capsulectomy and burning rest of the capsule
with surgical electric knife is best method; there will be no future harm through this.

3. There is minimal scar formation on the breast tissue to close the pocket, which heals
with time very fast.

4. It is not important to stitch the cut muscle up as rightly told by your both doctors.

Hope this will help you to understand much better.
Welcome for any further doubts.

Wish you fine recovery and best procedure.
Regards.
