I Am Having Problems With My Heart Skipping Beats Especially

Question: I am having problems with my heart skipping beats especially when exercising.. isn’t it more dangerous or worrisome when it skips a beat during exercise? I have exercised for years and occasionally I will get a few but now it seems like I get a lot of them! Does it mean I have a serious problem going on? I have always had a high normal pulse rate but my new Apple Watch shows Resting pulse at 75 and walking pulse at 119.. doesn’t that seem high? I just hate to take meds but do I need them? I usually exercise everyday but my pulse usually stays the same.. The doctor put me amlodipine 2.5 but my blood pressure was getting too low so I went off of it.. my blood pressure was great for two weeks after and then I started having the skipped heartbeats .. what should I do? He ordered a holter monitor so I will check on the results soon. Can I take magnesium for this?

Detailed Answer:
Hello

After going through the medical query I can completely understand your concern for your health and first of all I would like to assure you that you just need to relax as there is no significant abnormality going on.

Ectopics or skip beats are fairly common in otherwise normal individuals. However if you are experiencing increased frequency of it then you need to get a holter monitoring done.

Regarding the pulse rate which you have mentioned at rest and during walking is fairly within normal limits.

Monitor your BP regularly and if it stays below 130/80 mmHg then medication can be kept on hold.

Don’t take anything as of now and just get the test done as advised by your doctor. Once you get the results then we can decide what to do.

Also if you have tendency to drink lot of coffee or if you smoke then you need to stop doing that.

Kind Regards
