Question: I am a 62 year old man, 6 feet tall, 205 lbs.
my BP was 145/95. I started taking Natrixam. (Indalamide/amlodipine) 1.5/5mg
5 days ago for high BP. BP is 122/87 BUT I am having gout flares. I take alluopurinol 100mg daily. I read that diuretics cause gout so this is not right drug for me. Would channel blockers alone be good idea?

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I understand your concern and would explain that indapamide can lead to gout exacerbations, while amlodipine, which is a calcium channel blocker, is safe in your clinical situation.

For this reason, I would recommend continuing on amlodipine 10mg.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
