I Am A 30 Year Old School Teacher. I Was
Question: I am a 30 year old school teacher. I was diagnosed with strep throat 24 hours ago. I have pustules in my throat, fever, swollen glands, and bad neck and shoulder pain. I have had 2 doses of amoxicillin and am using ibuprofen. The fever has gone down to under 100 - my last medications taken 11 hours ago. I am waiting another hour to take my third dose. As the fever is down, the throat pain, neck & shoulder pain is severe. The pustules have increased in the throat. I was treated at a Walgreens clinic. My doctors office is closed today, should I go to an ER. Thank you

Before starting you on amoxicillin, I hope your doctor at Walgreens took a throat swab for culture and sensitivity.
Resistance to amoxicillin is quite common.
In addition to taking the antibiotic, I would suggest you to do throat and mouth gargling with Chlorhexidine solution, 4 times a day.
Betadine throat paint application 3 times a day.
Salt water gargling 4 times a day.
These act locally and kill the bacteria more effectively.
If you are not allergic to Paracetamol (acetaminophen), you can take that in addition to ibuprofen for reducing the fever, usually I would prescribe 650 mg for adults.
It is best to visit ER if the symptoms are getting worse.
