For treating nail fungal infection you need to take oral antifungals.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to take capsule itraconazole 200 mg twice daily for one week in a month for 3-4 months.
This is a prescription drug and you need to see the doctor in person to get it.

Thank you for your reply and advise.
I heard about the oral treatment, however, I understand that there could be negative effects on the liver. For this reason I would not consider this possible treatment.
Could you please let me know about other possible treatments and the % chance for success such as laser therapy or even pulling out the infected nail and allowing a new one to grow.

Can go for complete removal of the nail, laser therapy less effective

You can definitely go for complete removal of the nail.
It is effective in 80-90 percent of the cases.
Laser therapy is less effective and I don't have much personal experience of using it for fungal nail infection.

Nail removal seems to be a good way forward.
During the time the new nail growth, which could be a a couple of months, how to avoid the discomfort of walking without the toe nail? I never had a nail removed and I can imagine it will be some discomfort. Am I wrong?
