Brief Answer:
Yes it is ok to start.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Greetings from HealthCareMagic.

A mother can start a weight loss progamme once the baby is 6 months old. Since your child is 10 months old now, you may take a diet low in calorie and high in protein with good quality fat. Don't miss the fiber, a fiber rich diet would provides satiety with lesser calories.

A healthy weight loss plan has to be a combination of balance diet and exercises which helps to improve the metabolism. Limit the intake of simple carbohydrates like rice, sago, sugar, refined flour etc. for better results. If you wish to include rice, you may take 75gm or ½ cup in a frequency of maximum 3 times in a week and the sugar consumption should not exceed 2 – 3 tsp in day.

Always maintain a variety in fruits and vegetable intake. Avoid XXXXXXX grapes, sapota, custard apple, XXXXXXX fruit and banana as they are high in calories. Avoid the starchy vegetables like potato, yam, colaccasia and sweet potato for better results.

Add protein rich foods like nuts, pulses, sprouts, egg white, fish, chicken, milk and its products. Non veg to be taken either for breakfast or lunch, but not for dinner as it takes longer time for digestion.

Limit the intake of fat and always choose from olive / sunflower/ safflower oil etc. Avoid butter, ghee, cream etc. You may include a serving of low fat cheese weekly in your diet.

Stay hydrated; drink at least 3 liters of fluids in day. Include the healthy beverages like tender coconut water, skimmed buttermilk, clear soups, green tea etc. Fiber rich foods like green leafy vegetable, sprouts and salads are important as they increase the transit time while providing lesser calorie.

Restrict or avoid bakery, fried, sweets, alcohol, fast food and carbonated beverages for better results. Never skip meals and take the foods in small frequent intervals. This would also boost the metabolism. Increase the physical activities and try to be active as much as you can.

Please feel free to ask any further queries.

Best Regards,

Surumi
