How To Get Rid Of C -diff?
Question: I have had 10 episodes of C-diff since being hospitalized in XXXXXXX 2013 for six days. I have taken vancomycin 3 times, Dificid, and Flagyl twice. I have Thrush which I am taking oral Nystatin and just started Vanco again. After two days on Vanco I started the present C-diff episode. I have been referred and approved to see an ID specialist who is not available until next week.
Question: Does this continued use of antibiotics only contribute to the episodes of C-diff? I would be willing to look into a fecal implant but this procedure is not offered in my area. Any thoughts on how to get rid of C -diff? Thank you. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX (BD 10/28/34)

Thanks for your query.
Vancomycin is definitive treatment for Cl diff infection but the recurrence rate is high with the same. I would not prefer Vacomycin repeat course for this time as it would be useless.
You may have to employ antibiotics like Fidaxomicin or Rifaximin. These are the antibiotics which are advised in cases of recurrence. Fecal bacteriotherapy/ stool transplant/ fecal implant can also be a better addition to the treatment. Only few Gastroentrology centers employ this procedure.
