Question: How do I know when if I have LPR or a Motility Disorder. The GI says it a motilitiy disorder of the esophagus and the ENT says its LPR.

Hi,

Thanks for your query.

In my opinion, LPR is laryngoscopic pharyngeal reflux disease. In this there is retrograde motility of the food into the pharynx. Commonest cause is gastritis or acidic laryngitis. Motility disorder of oesophagus also is termed as reflux disease, where in the food is refluxed from stomach into pharynx in reverse direction. Both terminology mean the same.
