How To Determine The Date Of Conception And Due Date?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Jul 2015
Question: Hi doc

I had my ultrasound done on July 3, which say 8 week 1 day old. My first date of my last menstrual period is April 24, 2015.
I am at a 35 day cycle and always start ovulated on the 17th day, being May 10, in this case!.

1) does the 8 week 1 day old per ultrasound meaning "gestational age" or " fetal age"?
The technician does not specify and only reply that there is a chart to compute the date of conception.

2) per my blood test did on XXXXXXX 9, I was told that I was at my 4 the week. So my doc was very confirmed that I must have conceived in the week of May 10-16.

3) with the above info, what would be by due date and conception date?

Many thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
Due date 29 XXXXXXX 2016 and conception date 8 may 2015.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your health care.
I can understand your concerns.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
Here are the answer of your questions -
1) Gestational age is calculated from last menstrual period and use to calculate due date and conception date of foetus.
It is two weeks more than fetal age.
Foetal age is actual age of baby starting from the day of conception.
So it is showing gestational age in ultrasound scan.
2) Your conception date is 8 may 2015, so your doctor's opinion is almost right.
3)I have calculated your due date and conception date from your last menstrual period and it is 29 XXXXXXX 2016 and 8 may 2015.
Hope I have answered all your queries and if you have further questions, I am here to help you.
Good luck.

Thank you so

I just recalled that the technician mentioned that my due date is Feb 11.

1) Would that change my conception date?

Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Yes it may change your conception date.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear
You are most welcome.
Actually conception can occurs any day from 11-21 days in a regular menstrual cycle.
We usually calculate it from last menstrual period.
So if your due date is in February that means you concieved quite late.
Hope it is useful.

Hi doc

Would u please review the report and comment?

I was told that even my due date Is Feb 11. 2016 my conception date would be be changed because there is a discrepancy of +/-6 days.

I was concerned with the conception date bc I have been using antidepressants and sleeping pills.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Yes your reports are normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Sorry for the delay in my response.
I have gone through your ultrasound scan and it is showing a healthy pregnancy with good decidual reaction.
As you had 35 days cycles and you are ovulating on 17 th maybe your conception date is in between 10-17 may as your doctor said( because it is very difficult to predict exact conception date).
We can predict your due date with the help of your last period date and in ultrasound scan there maybe difference of 2 weeks which is considered normal because due date is 2 weeks more( as we discussed previously).
Hope it is useful.
Regards
