Question: Doctor XXXXXXX I am 49y old male working as small business owner, my sugar and blood pressure measures high whenever I check them. Fasting sugar is about 150 and blood pressure is about 150/95. I am taking "Amlozar -H" in morning and "Glycomet trio 2" in morning and evening. Please guide me what to do to control my BP and sugar. Thanks...

Brief Answer: It can be controlled by life style & diet changes. Detailed Answer: Hello XXXX Thanks for writing to HCM You are getting maximum oral medications.These are good medicines to control diabetes and hypertension but mentioned values of blood sugar and B.P are not acceptable. Target of systolic pressure should be below 130 mm Hg.It can be achieved by life style modification and diet changes. You should take limited salt in your diet.Avoid fried and junk food.Avoid alcohol & smoking if you take these things. Take lot of fruits and vegetables.You should also increase your physical activity in the form of walking and exercise. You can also do meditation and yoga.It will help you a lot. Don't take stress in life. You fasting blood sugar level is also high.Target of fasting blood sugar level should be around 100 mg/dl. You also getting maximum dose of oral medications.If it is persistently high even with diet and life style modification then insulin injection can be considered. It is important to know post prandial(PP) level also. You also need estimation of lipid profile and ultrasound of abdomen. Get well soon. Hope I have answered your question.
