Brief Answer:
Slowing of gastrointestinal movements seems to be the cause

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your query carefully.

Your wife's problem seems to be due to gastritis or gastroesophageal reflux.

In order to provide relief, please request your wife to adhere to the following suggestions:

* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Avoid smoking/alcohol intake (if at all do).
* Take Prilosec (Omeprazole) once daily before breakfast for the next few days.
* Take plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as a high fiber diet. Taking curd or yogurt on daily basis should help.
* If I had a patient like her, I would perhaps have suggested Prodep (Fluoxetine) 20 mg tablet (longterm anxiolytic and a prescription drug) once daily for at least 2 months (it may take time for the action to set in). Discuss about this with your treating physician.
* Stress reduction by engaging in Yoga and meditation should help.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
