Question: Hello Doctor,

A few weeks ago I'd severe pain in center back, upon consulting with general physician, he asked me to get Lateral view X-ray done for my back.
In X-ray, muscle spasm was identified, physician asked me to consult with a physiotherapist.
When I consulted physiotherapist, he told me that I'm having Thoracic back pain and asked me to get X-ray done in AP view.
Physiotherapist has suggested me to get 2 weeks on continuous physiotherapy.

I've started getting the physiotherapy.
I'm not sure how serious is the issue? or what should I do further?

Brief Answer:
This condition is not serious and would get better with physiotherapy.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I agree with the diagnosis of muscle spasm. I also agree with the treatment- physiotherapy and exercises. This condition is not serious and gets better with physiotherapy in a few weeks.

You should avoid prolonged sitting and continue doing back extension exercises (which would be taught by the physiotherapist) in the future too.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information. Wishing you good health.

Regards,
Dr. Sudhir Kumar
