How Long Is A Viral Infection Contagious?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Jul 2014
Question: Good morning, I developed red spots in my throat and roof of the mouth on Saturday. I've had no fever, just sore throat and feeling tired. The red spots are beginning to fade. I did not go to work yesterday; can I go to work today? Would I be exposing people to some virus? I work with the general public.

Brief Answer:
not to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir,

Infectivity in viral diseases is maximum just before the onset of symptoms. So any spread to the general public would have already taken place much before you got sick.

You can go to work.

But a day's rest will do you much good.
Rest is vital in viral diseases.
Remember to drink plenty of fluids and do warm salt water gargling 4 times daily.
