Brief Answer:
Generally the drug is eliminated of the bidy in less then 2 days.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Generally valsartan if taken oally peaks in body at 2 to 3 hours .Its effect lasts for about 24 hours then it is converted to its in-active metabolite .
Howe'ver our body generally takes time equal to 4 half lives of a drug to eliminate the drug from our body system. The half life ( time in which the amount of a drug taken becomes half in our body ) of valsartan is 6 to 9 hours and we said that in 4 half life times the drugs ia almost not there in out body .So for valsartan to be out of our body this needs to be 24 to 36 hours after the last dose taken. So in less then 36 hours, Valsartan effects are no more there in our body.

However just wanted to know why you had all these probelms of muscles ?? As valsartan does not cause such severe muscle problems.

Hopes inhave answered your question. I will be glad to answer any further question about this. please don't hesitate to ask anything more you need to know.
Regards,
Dr. Rahman

Good evening doctor. Yes. This is not common. I had such horrific issues with it that it landed me in the ER three times with horric muscle spasms and one with a ruptured psos- among many other rips. The psoas rupture kept me in the hospital for 12 days including an epidural to get my pain under control. They usually list these side effects under a separate category called "Less Common side effects". You have to work to find this info. Interesting that they don't put that out front. However, they did have men go to prison for falsifying trial data. Now that I am off of it I have no muscle spasms and no rips or tears. The issue is that it has done damage so that I cannot walk unassisted. I am trying to figure out how to get this back. My right leg has atophied a bit and my right toes have curled due to the musclular imbalance. I am not as tight as I use to be. I have been off the meds about 10 weeks. I am way better and it is noticeable to others. I need to heal more however. Perhaps the torn psoas isn't healed well yet. I go to water therapy (vs regular phys therapy) because everyone is afraid to work on me with how tight I use to be. Is there more I could do to heal the damage?

Brief Answer:
Please see detalied answer.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Yes rarely this drug can cause serious things like vascultis and myopathies.
If there is no other explanation for your disease , then you can report this. You can talk to your pharmacist and doctor for this .
The good news is that you are off the drug and improving.
After no use muscles do get atrophy , but these catch up latter on with excercise and physiotherapy. So the best try thing is gradually increasing weight excercise you are already doing. Also take good diet specially diet rich in protien .I hope and wish you a quick recovery.
Keep in touch with your doctor just to be sure there is nothing else wrong like nerve probelm or electrolytes or renal abnormality.

I can feel your pain and feel sorry for you. But Lets hope for the best .
Let me know if you still has any question.I would be glad to answer your question.
