How Long Does An Acetylsalicylic Acid Take To Show Its Action Against Fever?
Question: Hi. My mom had a heart attack on the last November. She underwent catheterization ABS angioplasty. She came home in December, and since then she has been very well. Yesterday she felt severe abdominal pain associated with burning. The pain was in the upper abdomen. In the first aid was made Electrocardiogram. The result was positive, nothing cardiac. She was given anti-nausea, dipyrone and omeprazole. We returned home, and she was very sleepy due to medication. Today the pain persists, fainter and has a high fever. It has been fed, has no nausea or vomit ... I gave acetylsalicylic acid (2 capsules) from the last 30 minutes. I'm waiting to mensure the fever again .. how long I need to wait to do it?

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your mother symptoms could be related to an infection, probably gastro-enteritis or colectytis.
Regarding acetylsalicilic acid, it is not the best drug in case of fever and abdominal pain, as it may cause further irritation of the stomach or exacerbate irritable bowel syndrome, as it is an acid.
Acetaminophen would be a better treatment choice for fever in this regard, coupled with omeprazole for the stomach and an anti-spastic (buscopan).
If the pain and fever persist, I would recommend bringing her to the ER for a physical exam and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR, kidney and liver function tests), a urine analysis and a stool analysis.

But, if the temperature does not drop within one hour, I would recommend taking acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
