How Long Does Nicotine Stay In The Body System?

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Oct 2016
Question: I quit smoking (a pack a day) yesterday and it just so happens I found out about a cotinine pre employment blood test I have to take in 7 days. Is that enough time to pass? Is there anything I can do to speed it up?

Brief Answer:
Some traceable amounts can even be detected even now

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

Based on the history you have shared, though it's level in he system would have decreased much but some traceable amount may still be detectable. I would suggest using large amounts of water and certain diuretics like furosemide may help but ot should be discussed with your primary doctor first. Using green tea can be started but not in very high amounts as it has natural diuretic effect and removes toxins from the body. Using Vitamin E and C supplements is also thought to be helpful though exact evidence is not established with its usage to detoxify the nicotine specially. Also avoid going to places or hanging put woth friends who smoke as passive smoking can also get into the system.

Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
