Dear Mr XXXXXXX
If the baby is on exclusive breast feeding it will not require any Vitamin supplements to be given.
All the nutritional requirement of baby are meet by breast feeding. I do not routinely recommend any nutritional supplement to baby. Exclusive breast feeding till age of 6 months. Weaning to be started from 6th month . To continue breast feeding till 18 months.
It would be beneficial giving nutrition supplement to mother( the benefit will definitely be passed on to baby through breast feeding).
I am against giving any supplements for the following reasons
1. The syrup used is hypertonic. Hypertonic fluid given to babies may predispose to Enterocolitis.
In case you require any further assistance will be glad to assist you
Take care
