How Do You Treat Jammed Fingers?

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Apr 2023
Question: Two of my fingers are sore and sometimes jam. It started with one finger. My elbow joints are sore. I was referred to a RA 12-18 months ago because ANA lab result showed possibility of lupus. I was not having any pain at the time. The RA said I did not have lupus nor arthritis because I was not having any pain. The finger pain started recently. My family physician recently said wait and monitor after a visit about pain in the hand and finger. Since that doctor visit, a second finger started hurting and sometimes XXXXXXX My adult daughter recently had an ANA lab result that showed a possibility of lupus. After visits to different doctors, she was told that she does not have lupus. Once, more than a year ago, I stood up after sleeping and couldn't stand straight. I was leaning over to one side and was dizzy. The cause was never successfully identified. What should I do next?

Brief Answer:
Could be trigger finger and tennis elbow.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Since tests and your doctor has ruled out RA and Lupus, I will not talk about it.

The jamming of your fingers, in my opinion, could be due to a condition called trigger finger where there is swelling in tendons causing jamming in movements. The treatment is medicines, local steroids, and surgery in the same order.

Elbow soreness is generally due to a condition called Tennis Elbow. Again the treatment is the same as for trigger finger in the same order.

I hope to have been of help.
