How Do Wellbutrin And Ritalin Differ From One Another?

Question: So, I've been subscribed to here for quite a while getting charged each month, and would like to try to get some of my money's worth before unsubscribing. There's a few questions that I would like to ask. I you're only allowed to answer one question at a time, I would like to know about the neurotransmitter test, but I would like to ask a few other questions too.

What's the difference between welbutrin and ritalin, because as far as I know, they're practically the same except that welbutrin is longer lasting.

I once had just 1/4th of a 10mg adderall IR tablet and still felt pretty potent effects. Is that bad or does it just simply mean I'm very respondent to it?

Do ssri's ever cause brainfog?

What are your thoughts on this neurotransmitter test, as well as neurotransmitter tests in general in terms of their efficacy? https://www.integrativepsychiatry.net

Should I be off all psychotropic medication if I were to take this neurotransmitter test?

If I were to take this neurotransmitter test, should I be off of my ssri's first, as I'm worried it might impact the results.

Brief Answer:
Neurotransmitter tests are new tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts

Wellbutrin is an antidepressant drug that has actions on serotonin and dopamine neurotransmitters. While Ritalin is an amphetamine drug. Both drugs are different in actions and indications. Ritalin is a stimulant medicine mainly used in ADD.

You took jut 2.5 mg Adderall and this was a very low dose. If you developed potent effects then you are probably sensitive to actions of the drug. Overall if taken with proper prescription then drug is safe to use.

Yes SSRIs can cause brain fog or even dizziness. In most individuals this side effect goes by own.

Neurotransmitter tests are newer tests and are not very much used in clinical practice. The tests are reliable and in initial studies showed therapeutic benefits in choosing proper medicines based upon which NT is involved in causation of symptoms.

There is no clear cut guideline but you should be off medicines for at least a week in order to find exact results.

Thanks.

So just one follow up question. Both Wellbutrin and Ritalin are norepinephrine/dopamine reuptake inhibitors, so I was actually wondering how they're different--besides the fact that Ritalin is faster acting--and why they're prescribed for different mental problems. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Ritalin has strong actions.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

Wellbutrin mainly weak NE/DA reuptake inhibitor and thus helps to increase the amounts of NE and DA in synapses consequently in CNS.

Ritalin like other stimulants act as monoamine agonists and thus stimulates receptors and thus helps in stimulation. This is the reason Ritalin is fast acting while Bupropion is relatively slow acting.

Thanks.
