How Can One Treat Severe Lymphedema In Both Legs, Severe Excruciating Pain And Fluid Drainage?

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Oct 2023
Question: I have lymphedema severe on R leg marginal on L leg, severe excruciating pain, fluid drainage. Also have psoriasis. I cannot stand any touch or even a whisp of a touch due to pain so my therapist says I need to fix the psoriasis or infection or whatever is so painful before she can compress and massage. My dermatologist has me on antibiotics (my third round) and is treating psoriasis on legs with betamethasone type ointment, makes it too painful for hours on end. Nothing I do seems to work. I would like to know what to do for pain and what to do heal the lymphadema. I have an appt with a vascular physician but not until the end of the month.

Brief Answer:
Lymphedema management.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The massage from a specialized therapist for Lymphedema is needed. You can start massage slowly to help drainage. The antibiotics treatment will help the reduced pain to some extent. Keep the skin clean and dry before using corticosteroid ointment.

Elevate leg mainly at night and use compression stockings during the day. You can use benzopyrones such as Flavonoids and Coumarin to reduce swelling. Also, topical Retinoids can reduce inflammation.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
