Brief Answer:

Decreased use of carbs can eventually cause increased sensitivity

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

A change in diet can cause the body to start to react differently to foods.

In addition, you may have decreased the use of carbs to try and improve blood sugar levels.

A decreased carb intake is usually eventually accompanied by carb craving, it is as though the body is trying to push the intake back up.

In many persons, this craving passes if ignored. The increased sensitivity may prevent overuse of carbs.

A fasting blood sugar of 4 to 5.6 is normal, so if it remains about 5.4, this is still within normal range, does not need to drop further.

Blood sugars before all meals (pre-lunch, pre-supper) should be between 4 to 5.6 and blood sugars 2 hours after meals should be less than 10.

Once the blood sugars fall within this range, that is fine.

also my cholesterol is high and thus I am on a diet to cut that. I used to do Energy drinks frequently prior to my illness. could that be a reason for the craving for the sugars. I have not done added sugars , sodas , alcohol and energy drinks since January. I do not understand why I have hunger sensations sometimes an hour after a meal and usually need to eat something in XXXXXXX 3 hours or I start to very light headed and jittery. it is true I have cut my carbs but that is not to say I was eating better prior to getting Ill on Dec. 25th 2017. I used to skip break fast and eat lunch at 1pm and have a late dinner around 8pm or 9pm when I get home. I am now struggling to get back to work. I got a bit scared during my illness and now I have panic or anxiety when I have to step out of the house an take on my previous life plus I just do not feel too sound though I notice improvement weak on weak.

thank you. I am taking propranolol now. I was supposed to take fluoxetine but I have not taken 2 weeks after it was prescribed.i was worried about the side effects and getting dependant on it.. I wish I could do counselling and self therapy. I am.trying and picking up bits and pieces of my life but scared I may not be able to return to work at the end of March as I wish to.

Brief Answer:

May need to increase protein intake

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I think that it's great that you have cut down on sugars.

If you are having hunger sensations so soon after a meal then it may indicate that you need to increase the protein levels of the meal, whether plant or animal protein. This would increase satiety /fullness

It is good that you are noticing gradual improvement, hopefully, this trend will continue.

If the anxiety is overwhelming and affecting your ability to function then you should speak to your doctor. Counseling and medication (for a short period of time), may be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Brief Answer:

It may help

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Fluoxetine may be able to help with your anxiety symptoms. It does NOT cause dependence or tolerance (a person needs more and more of a medication for the same effect).

It takes 2 to 3 weeks to take effect so the response is not instantaneous but it may help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
