How Can A Swollen Wound On The Forehead After Injury Be Treated?

Question: Hi, My son is 2 years old, he fell down while playing and got hurt in the forehead above nose.
There is a wound and it's swollen.
we have applied betadine.
Any prescription?

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I have checked the attached image. The injury seems external and does not seem concerning. You have done a good thing by applying betadine. Keep the area clean and apply betadine or any other antibiotic ointment like T-Bact (mupirocin).

The main concern is head injury or internal injury. If 'head injury' occurs, it will not be without manifestations. The main concern could be the ominous signs of head injury which are:
* Vomiting
* Severe headache
* Altered consciousness or Loss of consciousness
* Convulsions

I assume that none of these have occurred. Unless any of these are present you need not worry. If any of these occur, you would need to get a CT scan of the brain done.

Give paracetamol or acetaminophen in case the child is irritable due to pain.
