How Can A Lump On The Testicle Be Treated?
Question: I have a lump on my right testical and already had an ultrasound. The urologist says I have to have an operation and remove it, is that the best decision? Should we do a biopsy first or do I have any other options?

I read your medical reports and my answer is as follows:
- You have a lump in the ultrasound, elevated AFP (it is a tumor marker) higher than normal range
Our only option is to do the surgery. The testicle is one of the few organs that is forbiden to do a biopsy, due to risk on spreading the tumor. The only way to do the biopsy is only after we have removed it.
Your urologist gave you the best option and the best treatment for you in this case. So my opinion is to do the surgery. The biopsy will tell us what is this lump and if you need further treatment or not.

If you are talking about the pain after the intervention, then you will not have much pain. With the use of analgesics like ibuprofen or paracetamol and opioids etc. you will feel no pain, or just a little pain.
Now, depending from the type of tumor (after surgery and biopsy are done) most of the types of the tumors takes a lot of time before spreading or the probabilities to be spread are minimal. But there are a few types that are more aggressive (it's only possible to comment on them after biopsy report).
Right now you need to do the surgery and the biopsy. It will give us all the needed information about the type of tumor.
Most of these tumors are 100 % curable if diagnosed in time and if it is treated in the right way,
eg. Seminoma is the least aggressive and it reacts really well to surgery and chemotherapy.
You should go ahead with the surgery. That is the best option. Most of the doctors will never do a biopsy of the lump alone because of the risk to your health. So trust me and your urologist when we say that surgery is the only and the best option right now.

Ive seen some patients who needed chemo and instead changed their diet is that an option?

The answer to your question is No. You can't replace the chemo with the diet. It is a huge mistake if people actually do that. No doctor will ever recommend replacing chemo with diet. Probably you will still make some changes in the diet while under chemo sessions.
