How Can A Cut On The Thumb Be Treated?
Question: My wife has lymphedema from an operation on her left arm. She cut her left thumb this afternoon, and the thumb is now swelling. What should she do?
The swollen thumb is warmer than the right thumb which is not warm.
Her left arm is not swollen now except for the thumb that was cut this afternoon.

Hi
If the Cut is visible on the Thumb , cleaning and dressing of the wound should be done.It should not be left open.
To prevent infection, Antibiotic tablet has to be taken.I prefer Tablet Cefpodoxime 200mg twice daily for 5 days.As there is swelling, I prescribe Anti inflammatory tablet too.
Nothing to worry.It will come down.
