How Accurate Is The Vaginal Swab Test In Detecting Chlamydia And Gonorrhea?

Posted on Wed, 26 Oct 2016
Question: Hi there,
How accurate is a vaginal swab for chlamydia and gonorrhea 12 and 7 days after unprotected sex (meaning we had sex both 12 and 7 days before i was tested)? I have no symptoms other than some slight tenderness in my inguinal lymph nodes. The tests came back negative, i'm just wondering if re-testing is warranted or not.

Brief Answer:
No chlamydia or gonorrhea

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your questions and i understand your concern. With negative swabs at day 7 and 12 for gonorrhea and chlamydia, i would say its accurate enough to stop worrying about that and stay protected in future. USe supportive care for the symptoms like good coital habits and hygiene. Dont worry about inguinal nodes tenderness, take some tylenol and maintain good hygiene.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
