Brief Answer:
Sharing only cigarette once will not spread TB

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

Sharing a cigarette with a potential patient of TB will not spread TB. The disease TB is a slow or chronic disease and affects those with a weak immunity in most cases.

TB causes fever for days to months and is more in the evenings and combined with weight loss and or lymph node enlargement. TB in the lungs and respiratory system will cause cough and 40 percent of TB patients have lung TB.

If it was only an occasional meeting and sharing a cigarette with your friend then there is no risk of TB. If you are in contact with your friend who has been recently confirmed with TB and having any symptoms like fever, weight loss, cough, lymph node swelling, then please consult a doctor for basic tests like chest cray and blood tests.
