Hi There, My Partner And I Are Trying To Conceive

Question: Hi there,

My partner and I are trying to conceive and it’s resulting with me ending up with a few UTIs. The first one was in XXXXXXX and I was prescribed 5 days on Macrobid. I managed to avoid one until the end of September, where I was given another 5 days of Macrobid. Then another cropped up this month and I was given 5 days of Septra, which proved to be much less effective. I’m not sure if this is because I’m gaining a tolerance to the anti-biotics or if it was because of the different type.

I have at-home tests strips since a long wait in the ER is the only other option where I live, or driving to the next major city. After finishing the round of Septra on Monday I noticed most of my symptoms are still here, and I am still testing positive for leukocytes, although not for nitrites.

What should be next attack be? Today I bought some D-Mannose after reading it can be effective online. I’m doing everything else I can think of – drinking only water(lots of it), peeing immediately after sex, and wiping properly. I’ve read about women taking a low-dose anti-biotic when they have sex to avoid this – I’m just concerned about my tolerance and their ability to stay effective.

Thank you for any help or advice you could provide!
