Hi There, I Have A Quick Question Related To What

Question: Hi there, I have a quick question related to what i have been feeling, perhaps experiencing, lately. I would say it has been over a year since i started to experience numbness around my Quadriceps(outer part). Sporadically, i feel a tingling and needling. But recently, 3 days to the exact, I have been having a nonstop needling pain. It feels like as if 1 million needles were poking me. When that happens, it also becomes numb. I feel the pain-100%- pain when i touch the area, i feel like it is numb. I don't really feel my hand touching it. 2 days a go, I woke from my sleep because of the pain. The last 48 hours, the pain is much less sever. But there is a time when it comes and goes.

What i would like to know is:
1, what the cause might be
2, What are possible causes
3, What can i do to get rid of it
4, Anything you think of is appreciated

THANK YOU DR.

Brief Answer:
Seems a nerve compression problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.

I have read your query.

The issues that you are experiencing point mostly towards a nerve compression.

It is possible that femoral nerve may be compressed during its way.

Meralgia paresthetica also is a possible condition to consider.

Painkillers ( ibuprofen for example ) wearing loose pants, don't using belt, etc. are measures to improve your symptoms.

Getting evaluation by a Neurologist also is necessary to understand correctly your condition.

Hope you found the answer helpful.
