Hi There I Had Some Pain In My Rectum Which

Question: Hi there
I had some pain in my rectum which lasted for a while I just never got round to go to a doctor. When it got to the stage where it was hurting when I was ejaculating I got a blood test done and my CRP was over 20!
Antibiotics has sorted the pain out. My CRP ESR are normal now- my concerns are would have such infection cause me any problems in the future like infertility?

Is there any blood tests out there which check for tissue damage? I want to ensure I haven’t suffered any internal damage! I feel fine now there’s no pain but suffering from anxiety

With the CRP and ESR being normal does this show there’s no inflammation

Brief Answer:
No fertility risk, no need to be concerned.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

Reading the history of the disease you describe I can guess that you were probably suffering from an urinary track infection, a bacterial infection taking count that antibiotics have worked on cleaning it out.
The fact that symptoms subsided and PCR and ERS are back to normal means that infection and inflammation is cleared from body. People usually suffer many urinary track infection during their lives and those which are not complicated, as yours is, they don't let any consequences.
I think you can't be concerned about fertility issues just because of having an urinary track infection.
There are not needed any blood tests or check for tissue damage.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you for your reassurance.

My worries are because of me having this slight pain for years for about 8 years and I never did anything about it. My CRP had inflated up to 20 plus.

Could this be prostatitis? Or any issues with the seminal vesicles?

But because the CRP and esr are back to normal. Can I say the tissue has gone back to normal

If inflammation was still there and damage can I say the ESR and CRP will still be inflated?

What is a urinary Tract infection. And I remember when I did a urIne sample nothing had shown up.

Just for piece of mind can u let me know what tests can help to ease and give more piece of mind thanks

Brief Answer:
Do urine analysis, uroculture, std and abdominal ultrasound.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and thank you for asking again.
You didn't mention earlier that you had 8 years with that pain.
Urinary track infection can be an infection of urethra, prostate (prostatitis) , seminal vesicles, epidydimitimus, bladder.
You may need to do urine analysis and uroculture and STD. Also do an abdominal ultrasound.
You can upload the results to me for interpretation.

Hi doc
I have no pain at the moment and the antibiotics sorted I was on ciprofloxacin my CRP went up to 20.

I have had a urine test and it has been clear. CRP is fine and ESR is fine.

It was a slight pain which with time because I didn’t go to the doctor cleared up.

Because ESR and CRP is normal does this mean my body hasn’t had any damage? I feel no pain at all. My STD panel is clear.. I have checked all this and have only had one sexual partner.

My concerns were fertility as I’m getting married next year that’s all? Would such pain cause damage.. or do markers being normal are ok?

What would the abdominal ultrasound be looking for?

Can you give me fertility diet tips?
I just want to get rid of this anxiety and I’m sure body recovers?

I’ve added my blood test for you to review!

Answered by Dr. Olgeta Xhufka (8 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
No need to be concerned about fertility.

Detailed Answer:
It is a good that your urine tests are normal and STD tests are negative.
The urine is clear so it has been a simple urinary track infection.
The ultrasound may look for inflammation, thickening of bladder walls because of inflammation and infection and possibly kidney stones. Also it can measure the prostate dimensions.
I don't find it something that you have to be concerned about fertility.

Simple urinary track infection are common and are cured without consequences.
I don't believe you can have fertility issues ju just have to get married and try to concieve without having this fear.
No specific diet needed just quit smoking and limit alcohol intake. Eat a healthy diet and exercise continously.
I am waiting to see your blood test results.

Hi Doctor,

I have put my most recent blood test results for you to explain if you can see any sign of tissue damage or any inflammation.
If the ESR and CRP are normal here - so everything is back to norm?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Olgeta Xhufka (1 minute later)
Brief Answer:
Triglycerides and cholesterol a bit high and iron is low.

Detailed Answer:
I see the blood test results you uploaded and the total blood count is normal on every single parameter.
Liver and kidney functions are all normal.
Phosphate is a bit low, triglycerides and cholesterol are elevated, iron is a bit low and transferin saturation is low.
In this case you may need to keep a low fat diet using less red meat and diary products.
Increase fiber intake, fruits and vegetables.
Also you may need to take iron supplements daily.
This results will not likely affect your fertility and you may not be concerned about organs damage.
There is no need for further tests.

Scar tissue from a UTI
doctor
Answered by Dr. Olgeta Xhufka (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
So scar formed from UTI.

Detailed Answer:
I think you should not get concerned about married life.

About anxiety, you can try to use stress management therapy, yoga, and exercises.

If you still have symptoms you may need to use medications against anxiety such, fluoxetine, citalopram or Xanax.

A UTI doesn't leave a scar in the tissues or organs.

Also doctor.. due to a football injury.. I was told I had a small hydrocele on the left testes after a ultrasound. After a month or so.. when I got checked by my GP he had said it had disappeared. I also got checked last week and the doctor couldn’t find wrong with the testes.

Anxiety is a problem atm.

By the of chance if it is still there I’ve been assured it isn’t as a qualified GP has checked.. I can’t see anything of the swelling sort.
Would there be any fertility issues or interference with sperm production. I guess this may be common in athletes.. I play football. Have you dealt with any of these cases in ur practice.

This is my last question as I’ve used the follow up questions.
