Hi My Son Has A White Sore On The Inside

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Jun 2019
Question: Hi my son has a white sore on the inside of his lip. It’s not really a blister or fluid filled and I can’t scrape it off. I think it might be a sore from his braces rubbing. It just makes me nervous because I have genital hsv 2 and it worries me that somehow it could have infected him. I have no known history of an oral infection myself. He has no fever or other symptoms.

Brief Answer:
It seems to be a traumatic ulcer and would resolve on its own

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

As per the picture and given the history, it seems to be a traumatic ulcer which has occurred due to trauma by braces.

It should resolve on its own with 7-10 days but if it still persists for more than 3 weeks then you need to see an oral surgeon and get a biopsy done.

Hope I have answered your query.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks
Kind Regards
Dr. Neha Sumra
