I have gone through your query and understand your concern

A sudden onset of fever without any other symptoms is probably a viral illness as you rightly mentioned.

Just continue giving Crocin, but give every 6 hours(maximum 4 times a day) instead of 5 hours. Domstal and Rantac can be given simultaneously. Also, let him drink enough fluids and have a soft diet.

If fever is not coming down in 3-4 days or fresh symptoms appears, we can evaluate further.

I hope this answer will help

Thank you sir. My kids weight is 12.3 kg and he is active n alert right now after giving crocin mrng dose. How do we differentiate a normal viral fever from a dengue, malaria or corona type of illness and what related symptoms can we look out for in case of other infections. He doesn't have cold symptoms or phlegm.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry now

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Sorry for the delay, as today was a very busy day

His weight is pretty good for his age.

When a child develops fever without any other symptoms, most frequently this indicates a usual non specific viral illness. In such cases it is difficult to distinguish the exact causative agent and we just wait for 3-4 days with symptomatic treatment. Most of the time the fever disappears by then and we can leave that.

We suspect some specific diseases like dengue, malaria or typhoid when the fever continues beyond 3-4 days or if there develops additional symptoms

For instance, dengue fever can have associated rash, severe headache or vomiting. In malaria the fever comes at regular intervals, temperature can be very high and associated with shivering. Corona we suspect when there was a contact history and usually we will get symptoms of respiratory infection like cold, cough or sore throat. These all are just supportive features and we have to correlate with clinical findings and lab investigations when needed.

In short, there is no reason to worry now in our case . Let’s wait for him to be normal back.

Hope I have answered your query
