Brief Answer:
? HYPERCALCAEMIA

Detailed Answer:
Hi....
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor" Service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX

I have gone through your query and here is my opinion.

Normal Calcium levels are in a narrow range from 8.5 to 10.5 mg/dl.
It is tightly maintained by parathyroid hormone.
Normal calcium levels vary with age.

The dilemma is that diagnostic labs give a reference range with out taking patient's age into account.
Labs give a normal range for all, which might go up to 10.5 or even 10.7 mg/dl.
Lab is only giving a blanket value and not giving the specific upper limit for you and your age.

Upper limit of blood calcium in teenagers and during the growing phase of life is high, reaches a plateau at around 25 yrs of age (when our bones are the strongest and loaded with maximum calcium) and after that there is a hormone mediated de calcification with sequential fall in blood calcium levels.
In subjects over 40,it is usually in 10's and in subjects over 50,it is usually in 9's.

The calcium levels should always be read in context of patient's age and any high levels should always be evaluated for hyperparathyroidism.
High calcium levels almost always indicate parathyroid disease.

A calcium level of 10.75 (As in you) might be normal in a person who is in his twenties but might signal the presence of hyperparathyroidism in someone over 40 years of age.

Further, more than the level of increase in blood calcium, the duration of it's increase is a better predictor of severity of hyperparathyroidism.

Kindly share your age and subjective complaints.
Do you have symptoms of hypercalcaemia like bone pains, fatigue, exhaustion, headache, confusion, dry mouth, increased thirst, abdominal colic, nausea and vomiting, anorexia, constipation, psychosomatic symptoms, increased peeing, hypertension, palpitations and arrythmias etc ?

Stay healthy.
Best regards.
