Question: Hi,
My daughter is 6months old, she is having loose motions since 2 days, she is on medication (walamycine DS). Can I use neopeptine drops for digestion? She is suffering from Collic pain and cold also.
Please suggest as earliest possible if we can use neopeptine drops. If we can use how many drops.?

Brief Answer:
Better to give Colicaid/Decolic instead of neopeptin in such cases

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for asking on this platform
I have gone through the details and do understand your concern.
Colic or spasmodic pain during loose motions is common and it is due to increased intestinal motility.
Cold with loose motions (not containing blood or mucus) indicates involvement of two systems i.e respiratory and digestive; this is more common in viral infection.
Neopeptin drops are mainly used for flatulence with no clear role in colic. I personally don't recommend neopeptin in diarrhea for colic and there is no such reaserch publications.
Colicaid or Decolic drops which contains Simethicon and some other ingredients, helps better.
For loose motion zinc and probiotics should also be given as these helps in early recovery. Give fluids(ORS) to maintain hydration.
Watch closely for danger signs like decreased frequency of urine, poor activity, frequent vomiting, excessive irritability or poor oral intake.
If you notice any please consult your pediatrician.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more doubts.
Regards
