Hi I’m Just Looking To Get A Second Opinion On

Question: Hi I’m just looking to get a second opinion on a health issue that my nine-year-old son is having. His right maxillary sinus continues to be “ opacified” after 18 months And so the ENT is recommending sinus surgery to clear up the issue As if this continues , there could be issues with his facial bone growth (as he gets older) as well as thePossibility of developing silent sinus syndrome down the road. I really do like this doctor I just feel like I should get a second opinion just because we’re talking surgery

I attached the first MRI summary showing the issue with the sinus. This is from 18 months ago. I do not have the current MRI Report from a week ago but the doctor indicated that the sinus is still exactly the same

I should also indicate that because he has autism and cannot sit still for a CT he has to be sedated and so The ENT said that because sedation is necessary whether it’s a CT or an MRI we might as well just do an mri And evaluate the sinus that way I am

Detailed Answer:
Hii Welcome to the healthcare services. Is your child is having any symptoms like watering from nose, sneezing, epistaxis, headache, facial pain, recurrent cold and nasal discharge, loss of smell? If he is not having any of the above symptoms then it's most unlikely that he need any surgery. I have seen the report. But I want to see the MRI picture of the maxillary sinus. Then only I can give a better opinion. Send the picture.
