Hi.. I Ve Been Passing A Kidney Stone. The Pain

default
Posted on Wed, 24 Jul 2019
Question: Hi.. I've been passing a kidney stone. The pain is gone but, for days since the pain subsided, I have had the intense urge to pee... especially when at rest. Is that a residual effect from passing a kidney stone? I saw some very small particles in my urine the past few days... but nothing big.

Stone likely located at the lower end of ureter .Needs to investigate

Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the facts that the urge to pass urine frequently that you have is mostly to be due to stone likely to be located at lower end of ureter and needs to be investigated .

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis

.Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

In the mean time you can start taking antibiotic like Norfloxacin twice daily and alpha blocker like Tomsulosin once daily.

Ensure to drink more water to help to produce more urine .

Hi there... I had a CT scan... the report came back saying there is a probable .3cm left ureteral vesicular junction stone but it's hard to see because there are numerous phleboliths surrounding it. No hydronephrosis or hydroureter.

And there is a non-obstructing stone in the right kidney.

The pressure in the area above my penis is pretty intense and the urgency to pee is still there. All other areas of the CT scan were normal except finding "nonspecific minimal soft tissue stranding around the celiac axis and multiple appendicoliths in my appendix but no appendicitis"

How long do you think this pressure/urgency will last? Shouldn't the stone just drop in the bladder and what is making it stay there?

Thank you.

One last question... on the report it said I had an "under distended bladder" which made it hard to evaluate... what does that mean?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. P. T. Patil (5 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Under distended bladder means it was not filled with adequate urine

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .

While doing ultrasound scanning bladder has to be filled with minimum 250-300 ml of urine so as to have clear visualization of interior ,nature and thickening of bladder wall .Under distended bladder signifies that it was empty or may be filled with inadequate quantity of urine .

Thanks and Regards.
