Hi, I Have Recently Torn My Acl And I'm Bed

Question: Hi, I have recently torn my acl and i'm bed bound. On monday I fly to los angeles from London. My doctor prescribed me clexane because i'm on pretty strict bed rest ahead of the flight and he felt that it would be best for me to ineject before flying (he said a day or so before).

I have 10 40MG syringes and i'm just checking whether you have more specific suggestions / time frames.

I am 35, caucasian, 6'2", 195 LBS, and in relatively healthy shape (I work out usually around 3-5 times a week) and i have no pre-existing medical conditions.

Hi there

Thanks for the query

I do not understand why you have to be bed-bound. Usually I need brace that would suffice and weight-bearing as tolerated until the time of surgery.

Clexane can be taken every day subcutaneously at the same time as specified by your doctor. The dose is usually 5000IU once a day subcutaneously. In your case it's 4000 units in a syringe which should be fine especially since you are fit and well.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

How long before my flight should I take it? And do i need to take more than one dose?

Thank you for your help!

Detailed Answer:
This information should have been given to you by your doctor In afraid, because they have prescribed it for you.

The dose may be taken 1-2 hours before flight departure and also compression stocking needs to be worn on the other lower limb during the flight. However it is best you discuss with your doctor and not take this as a definitive medical advice.
