This pain could be due to Cervical spondylosis.

Avoid lying on thick pillow. Avoid bending neck forwards. Apply hot water bag over painful region safely. Take Tablet Myoril-Th 8mg twice a day for 3-4 days. it could cause some drowsiness so avoid taking before driving.
