Question: Hi, I have a quick question... What could be the reason for green stools/poop? I recently went to the Dr and he said my liver was producing too much enzymes because I recently drank too much alcohol for 2 weeks in a row. I'm not drinking anymore, I haven't drink alcohol in 9 days, but could the liver enzymes be the reason why my stools/poop is green?... I'm also currently taking multivitamins.

Brief Answer:
Green poop is normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing "Ask a Doctor"service for your query,
Have seen your details.
Firstly all colors of stool from.green to black( except tarry black) are normal.
Secondly bile is a pigment secreted by liver. Bile is green in color usually during the process of digestion the bile breaks down into a pigment called strecobilinogen which is yellow brown in color hence giving yellow brown tinge to feces however if due to fast moment of intestine of bile remain unbroken stools could be green. Until and unless any other symptom or pathology is involved.
Few tests however recommended are-
ultrasound upper abdomen.
Liver function test
Stool test.
Thanks.
