Question: Hi, I had unprotected sex with my female friend. Her periods were due on 19th July but she didn't had her periods. We had a pregnancy test done today 20th July which showed negative. Is there still a possibility of her getting pregnant.

Brief Answer:
Need feedback.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
I welcome you to virtual clinic.
I have understood your concern and I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

First of all do not panic.

As you might be aware that in a woman with regular periods, day 10 to 20 is the most fertile period of the cycle.
If your unprotected sexual activity was before or after that period of the cycle, then chances of her getting pregnant are very minimal.

I would like to know about few things in detail.
1. Does she have regular periods?
2. When did she have her last period?
3. Around what date did unprotected sexual activity took place?

Please feel free to communicate with me again.
This will enable me to suggest you the best possible treatment options.

I hope this answer helps you.
thanks.

Brief Answer:
Day 10, minimal chances. Wait for 5 days.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Thanks for appreciating my answer and reverting back to me.

I have gone through your reply.
As per your history, day of unprotected sexual activity was day ten of the cycle.
So chances of her getting pregnant are minimal.

I will still advice to wait for 5 days more for the menses. If she gets her period then the issue gets solved.
If not please repeat morning's first sample of urine tested for pregnancy.

Even of it's positive, you still have option of termination of pregnancy with medications under medical supervision.

I hope this answer helps you.
Please feel free to contact me again.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Onset of menses rules out pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Thanks for appreciating the answer and reverting back to me.

Your reply will relieve both of you.
If she has started her menstrual bleeding, then you need not worry about the pregnancy now.
Onset of menses rules out pregnancy.

It won't be untimely at this point of time to advice you to get proper sex counseling done.
This will help to have safe and protected sexual activity and will help to prevent unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease.

I hope this answer helps you.
